Guardian Angels of Haliburton County to be honoured at YWCA's annual ceremony
Women admired for the positive difference they are making in the lives of women in Haliburton County will be honoured at the upcoming second annual Guardian Angel Award Ceremony hosted by YWCA Peterborough, Victoria and Haliburton in Fleming College's Great Hall. The event, which also includes a discussion panel and free lunch, will take place Monday, Dec. 6, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, between 12 and 1 p.m. The phrase "If one of us is not safe, then none of us are safe" and issues surrounding violence against women in Haliburton County will be the focus of discussion, and the panel will be comprised of local women, including Val Jarvis, OPP and domestic violence coordinator Haliburton County. Panel moderator will be Roxanne Casey of 100.9 Canoe FM. Featuring special live music by Outloud Womyn's Voices and a complementary light lunch, the event will give men and women in the County an informative and enjoyable way to spend their lunch hour on this important national day. Celebrate women who are making a difference in Haliburton County, be part of the local conversation, and discover how to take action on violence against women in our communities. The Resorts of Ontario 2010 fall session was hosted by Wolfgang Stichnothe, Innkeeper of the Christie's Mill Inn and Spa and Skål International Toronto North member. The events were organized by Grace Sammut, managing director and Michelle Duff, program and service coordinator - the Resorts of Ontario with more than 20 owners and operators including Frank Vismeg, President of Skål International Toronto North and managing director of Pinestone Resort, Conference Centre and Golf Course - Spa, Haliburton, in attendance. It brought together a collection of resort operators to discuss their respective operations, their 2010 experiences, and 2011 planning strategies for opportunities and changes. Also, new technology continues to evolve and customer expectations and attitudes change, all with mass distributions channels, discounting at play, increased competitions and new destinations. After the meeting, there was a reception, followed by a great dinner with unique culinary experiences in the Waterfront Dining Room and panoramic views of shimmering Little Lake and surrounding woods, where the photo above was taken.
